Halloween Night

On the forthcoming Halloween the Community Alert members will be on patrol from 4:30pm in various places around the parish. As on aid to help avoid anti social behaviour on the night we are requesting that where possible householders would remove bins, wheelie bins, flower pots etc. from around their front gates and wall. Also it would be appreciated if families pay extra attention to ensure that their children are not involved in antisocial activities. We in Community Alert wish all parishioners a peaceful Halloween

CALCUTTA CALLING

CALCUTTA CALLING: Calcutta Calling held a race night in the Woodlands Hotel on Friday night last January 13 and we had a great turn out indeed. We would like to thank everyone for their support. We had ten races in all and some of the horses unfortunately are still running. The Brian and Margaret Geary stable were very successful and they cleaned out the bookies. Charlie and Kathleen Coughlan came all the way from Galway and didn’t go home empty handed either. Liam Coughlan introduced a new concept as he did all his betting online on the night but with little success. The group led by Fr. Pat Hogan are off to Calcutta on Wednesday next and we wish them a safe passage to India. Fr. Pat thanked all present for their continued support for the Calcutta Calling project and also all the people who sponsored the ten races plus the owners, trainers and jockeys. Thanks to John Loftus who was “fear a ti” for the evening. John gave some great tips, but not until after the races were over. Thanks also to Gerry O’Dwyer who was our technical man on the night. He did a great job but wasn’t too quick to give out and tips. Thanks also to Mary Fitzgerald and her staff at the Woodlands Hotel, great supporters of the Calcutta cause, for their hospitality on the night. A very enjoyable social night out and no one lost their shirt.

OPERATION MORE or LESS

OPERATION MORE or LESS: Two weeks down now and thirteen to go, time flies. We now have over forty people signed up for the weekly slim and it’s hotting up already with some serious weight losses accounted for already. It will not be easy to take the title of “Ballybrown’s Biggest Loser” on good Friday night.
Walks are being organised also on certain nights and you can check this out on Facebook at Ballybrown Walking for times, venues etc. Thanks to all who have already supported this venture, the monies raised go in total to Fr. Pat Hogan’s Calcutta Calling Fund.
We still have some places to be filled as we were looking to get at least 50 people on board. We weigh in every Friday night at the Resource Centre from 7.30 – 8.00pm and Phil Ryan will be on hand to see who tips the scales. Come along on Friday night and as usual bring a friend. This is a fun fundraiser and all are welcome to take part, so dont be shy you are among friends. Thanks
