SALESIAN COLLEGE MUSICAL BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

SALESIAN COLLEGE MUSICAL BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Under director Sadhbh McCoy over 100 students will participate in this years Salesian College performance of Beauty and the Beast. This year for the first time there is a change of venue. The show will be staged in the Lime Tree Theatre on the Mary Immaculate College Campus on Thursday February 25 and Friday February 26. The 11am matinee performances on the same dates are already sold out with local national schools attending. Ticket prices Adult €15, Student €12, family of 4 €48 are available from the Lime Tree Box Office on 061 774774 or online www.limetreetheatre.ie. Book tickets early to avoid disappointment.

CALCUTTA CALLING

CALCUTTA CALLING: The weekly slim and weigh in, in aid of Fr. Pat Hogan’s Calcutta Fund takes place each Friday night at the Resource Centre from 7.30 to 8pm. This is a great local opportunity to begin 2016 and lose a few pounds and in so doing help a very worthy cause. Fr. Pat and his group are at present out in Calcutta working with the poor on the streets and all monies collected go in total to the Calcutta Fund. The weight out takes place on Good Friday. We are still looking for volunteers to get involved in this project so please come long on Friday night your support would be greatly appreciated. Phil Ryan will be on hand at the weighing scales to record everyone’s progress. It is also hoped that we will organise a few walks locally over the next eight weeks in aid of the fund. This ” Operation More or Less” project is open to all, the more the healthier. Thank you and looking forward to seeing you on Friday night and for the next 8 Friday nights. We will have a special prize of a ” Giant Easter Egg” for the biggest loser. Come on and have a bit of fun and in the process lose a few pounds or is it a few Euros.

45 Drive

45 DRIVE : The weekly 45 card drive in aid of the Ballybrown Community Resource Centre continues every Thursday night at 8.45pm and your support would be greatly appreciated. Please come along and we promise you a great night out for just €5 and of course be sure to bring a friend.
 
Winners for January 7th : 1st prize €100 to John O’Gorman and Ivan Coughlan, 2nd prize €60 divided by Pat Keogh with Dan McDaid and Rita Lyons with Paddy McCarthy. The table prize went to Malachy and Noreen Cusack. Raffle: John O’Gorman, Donie Lane, Liam Browne, Mary Kenny,
Anthony McGann and John Long.
 
Winners for January 14th : 1st prize €100 to Bernard O’Brien and Billy Austin, 2nd prize €60 divided by Kevin O’Neill with Willie Gorman and Micheal O’Keeffe with Michael Stokes. The table prize went to Jim Enright and Liam Browne. Raffle: Helen Kennedy, Liam Browne, Mary Kenny
Willie Gorman, Daniel Cusack and Donie Lane.
 
Winners for January 21st : 1st prize €160 divided by Anna Roberts with Mary Kenny, Pauline Culhane with John Doolan and Michael Stokes with
Micheal O’Keeffe. The table prize went to Donie Lane and Pat Mulqueen. Raffle : Ivan Coughlan, Ivan Coughlan, Pat Mulqueen, John O’Gorman, John O’Brien and Marie Cregan.
 
Winners for January 28th : 1st prize €160 divided by Timmy Toomey with Margaret Queally and Joan Burke with Kathleen Keyes. The table prize went to Eugene Quinn and Gerry Moran. Raffle : Phil Ryan, Teresa Neville, Liam Browne, Mike Mann, Eugene Quinn and Teresa Neville.
 
The fifteen week league is now in its 4th week and with prizes of €150, €80 and €50 up for grabs, it will pay not to miss out over the next ten weeks or so.
 
Hope to see you all on Thursday next at 8.45pm and with Maura Byrnes, Joe Purcell, Peter O’Sullivan and Willie Ryan around to look after you a trump won’t be missed. Thanks to all our supporters.

Art Boys & Girls U8,10,12, 14 – This competition will take place on Saturday February 6 Venue and time to be confirmed.
Draughts – After all their hard work the draught competitions are coming up, we have entered 2 teams U10 and 1 team U12.

RATHKEALE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

RATHKEALE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY : Rathkeale & District Historical Society begins its Spring season of lectures this Friday night, January 29, in the Community Arts Centre in the local area offices of Limerick City & County Council at 8.30pm..

This is the night when local historians are centre stage and the programme is: “Graveyard Iconography” by Mary Kury, “Irish Chaplaincy in World War 1” by Alan Johnson and “O’Donovan Rossa in Rathkeale – 1894”. Each talk will reference specific local elements and will be of interest to anyone with an interest in history. These local talks attract the largest attendances each year and you are cordially invited to attend. Situated above the library theCommunity Arts Centre is accessible by lift and by stairs and all lectures are free of charge.
