Towards Occupation is a FREE programme that helps to rebuild your confidence and expand your skills through short modular workshops held in a relaxed friendly environment.  Workshops include:  Career Planning & Job Preparation, Personal Development and Confidence Building, Nutrition and Health Cooking, Crafts and Skills Development.   The twelve week programme runs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9.30am – 12.30pm starting April 4 in the Newcastle West Community Centre.  To book your place or to see if this is suitable for you contact Finn at West Limerick Resources on 087 759 1951.  Priority to those in receipt of a social welfare payment & actively job seeking

HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING

HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING: West Limerick Resources is offering two health and safety workshops for Community Groups this April. On Tuesday April 5 the workshop will focus on basic Health & Safety Training for Community Groups while the April 19 workshop will help participants develop their Safety Statement. Both workshops will take place in West Limerick Resources Offices, St. Mary’s Road Newcastle West from 7pm—9pm. Contact: Dearbhla on 069 62222 to book a place.
 
These initiatives are funded under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2015-2017 which is funded by the Irish Government and co-funded by the European Social Fund and includes a special allocation under the Youth Employment Initiative

RATHKEALE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

RATHKEALE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Rathkeale and District Historical Society is partnering with Limerick City and Co. Library Service to deliver a special 1916/2016 Commemoration lecture in the Community Arts Centre in Rathkeale on this Friday March 11. This event is part of the Irish State’s programme of events to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising. Begining at 8.30pm all are welcome. The Arts Centre is above the library in the Rathkeale offices of Limerick City and County Council

DAFFODIL DAY

DAFFODIL DAY: Friday next March 11 is Daffodil Day. Thousands of volunteers around Ireland sell daffodil pins and flowers to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society’s free, nationwide services for those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland. There will be stalls at Hayes Shop, Tervoe, Centra, Clarina and Centra in Patrickswell. Your support will be greatly appreciated

OPERATION MORE or LESS

OPERATION MORE or LESS: We are in the final few weeks of the slim in aid of Fr. Pat Hogan’s ” Calcutta Calling ” the weigh out takes place in the Resource Centre on good Friday March 25 at 7.30pm. On Sunday March 13 at 12 noon, we are holding a 5k walk from the ” Sailors Haggard ” monument in Newtown back to Cregaun. Your support for this event would be greatly appreciated and we would invite all the slimmers to attend. This is a beautiful peaceful walk, no traffic, and we guarantee plenty of fresh air. Thanks to all the people who took part and turned up each Friday evening to be weighed in. Thanks to Phil Ryan for her help with this event. Thanks to Mons. Michael Lane, Gerry Mullins and Donie Burke for their generous financial support. All the monies collected in this fund raiser go in full to support various projects working with the poor in Calcutta. See you all on March 13 at 12 noon in the ” Sailors Haggard”, Liam Coughlan and Peter Byrnes will be on hand to start the walk and tell you all about the monument which was a wonderful local project and a credit to all who took part in its erection.
